Meet International Alumnus Arsyah Rasyid
Our wonderful Alumni!
Like so many of our wonderful alumni, Arsyah Rasyid loved the time he spent in the land down under! IAJN were lucky to have a talk with him about his time abroad, to learn more about why studying in Australia was so amazing.
Being born and raised in Indonesia, Arsyah went to Australia to get the best education possible without having to travel too far from his home. Having been accepted into Monash University he pursued a bachelor degree in Business and Accounting. After his time at Monash he continued his education at the University of Melbourne where he finished a Master in Management. Today Arsyah is the CEO and Co/founder of Kokatto.
So what was so great about studying in Melbourne? Well...
For seven years running Melbourne has been named the world's most liveable city which Arsyah got to experience firsthand. Jealous? So are we! Arsyah was particularly fond of the alleyway coffees and brunches, which he found to be an intricate part of the Melbourne lifestyle. Luckily for Asryah he didn't have to wander the streets of Melbourne alone. Being a diverse city with various nationalities, Arsyah spend his time with friends from all over the world. No wonder Arsyah found his experience in Australia enjoyable!
Because Asryah is from Indonesia one might imagine there would be some difficulties due to his different cultural background. There was not! According to Arsyah, Aussies are very tolerant towards different cultures and during his time in Melbourne he actually found it easier to practise his traditions, like the Ramadan. Why you ask? During the Ramadan the daytime in Melbourne is shorter than in Indonesia which made it easier for Arsyah to fast.
No doubt in his mind
Since Arsyah had such a great experience we couldn't help but ask if he would recommend studying at an international university to his friends at home. And there was no doubt in his mind; “Yes! it's not only close to home, the campuses provide great on-boarding programs and support system to make sure you are comfortably settled-in. Plus, the course duration is shorter. You can obtain your Bachelor's degree within 3-years and Master's degree within 1-year”
